What is MUN?

The Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulated environment of United Nations committees, where students represent countries to solve the most current international political and humanitarian issues. Students give speeches, debate, write resolutions, and partake in demanding teamwork.

Are there any requirements to join SUMUN?

To join SUMUN, you have to be a current student at Suffolk University. That is the only requirement.

Do I have to be a good public speaker to join?

No. SUMUN is a learning experience. Not everyone who joins has good public speaking skills, but everyone who actively partakes will gain great confidence in public speaking and debating.

Do I have to be a political major to join?

No. Our club is open to all majors. In fact, we have students majoring in everything from international relations to marketing!

What can I expect to gain from joining SUMUN?

If you commit yourself to SUMUN, you can expect to become a confident public speaker, a skilled debater, a strong team worker, and a knowledgeable individual of politics and its peripheral matters.

How much will I have to commit to SUMUN?

The minimum commitment is 45 minutes per week for our meetings. When preparing for conferences, we highly recommend at least one extra hour of preparation per week.
